human powered craft

I recently graduated with BFA in Industrial Design, while in college I rowed all 4 years, now I want to get into designing rowing shells. does anyone have any advice?

Ummm..... not be facetious or anything, but - start designing.

Anything else just delays the process.

Design of competitive rowing shells is very high level hydrodynamics. Look at the current research.

Talk to Ted Van Dusen at Composite Engineering in Concord, MA. He designed the Van Dusen singles and doubles based on research he did at MIT for his doctoral degree. He also builds all the kayaks for the Olypmpics. You have to start at least at his level to carry on with something new.
