| Hull Shape Is there a funtional reason that a planing hull's bottom appears to taper slightly (viewed from the side) as it progresses toward the transom, instead of being straight? mrbrown |

| to get the stern gradually out of the water halfgliders have this form, normal planing boats tend to step more abrubtly over the wave with a constant deadrise bottom. |
