Power, sail or other?
When you say "Best" do you mean fastest, most comfortable at speed, driest (hah!) or something else?

Steve "too many questions"

The "best" of anything costs the most. No boat, of any design type, is the "best" at everything, though it may do some things very, very well, other issues will have to take a back seat to the issue(s) receiving the most attention from the designer.

What do you think the "best" car is and how do you qualify the reply? Subjective expectations of impossible questions, rarely get reasonable answers . . .

There, that ought to clear it up.

Sorry almesbah, but I suggest you get a book like Dave Gerr's Nature Of Boats and study that for a while. Then You may be able to ask your question in a way that will promote a reasonable answer.

Get a Grip...

You'll find that the faster a boat gets - the less comfortable it is...

I don't want to seem out of line but it appears that you may do better to buy an existing boat - sail it for a while, buy another very different one, sail that for a while, then buy yet another very different one, sail that for a couple of years and, while you are doing this, read copious numbers of books about boat design. At that point you may be ready to tackle the task of building a boat yourself...

First I am not a boat designer. I just read lots of boat building books, and one day I plan to build my own cat.
As of today I would look into displacment cat with a hydrofoil. Very long and trim, high free board. I would have the hulls going beyond the deck by a very safe margain.
