I must admit I'm a bit confused by the logistics of this thread. My one sheet boat weighs about 16 lb. When I get close to water I lift it off the roof rack - using one hand if there are any attractive young ladies in the vicinity - and place it gently in the water.

What material did you make it out of that one sheet requires such a launching process, gyprock?

Yep, I wasn't thinking, but weighting the trailer shouldn't be difficult.

Why not just put the wheels directly on the boat and eliminate the trailer?

Wheels would improve windward performance a tad.

    Oops, my bad.
    Sorry, Watson.

If you left the tow bar in place it could serve as a bowsprit. :D

We could of course do this.

Whether the trailer floats or not depends on its weight vs its volume.
You could measure the physical dimensions of the trailer and then weigh it.
This can be done with bathroom scales by weighing the three points ie each wheel at a time and then the hitch. Ad the three weights to give you the total weight of the trailer. I think the weight of water in America is 62 lbs/cubic foot.

We have metric water in Australia and we don't use body parts as a measurement.

Anyway, your trailer should weigh more than 62 lbs/cubic foot and it obviously doesn't.

However I can see areas of your trailer where you could cut sections out especially the centre parts and use a hole saw to cut hoes in the two longitudinal runners under the boat.

This reduces the weight of the trailer but not its weight in relation to water, so you add steel equalling the weight of the wood you cut out which maintains the same weight as the original trailer but increases its weight to volume so it will sink.

You should be able to calculate how much wood you can cut out of the trailer, its weight and whether the added steel would make it sink.

The urban dictionary has a definition for "minch", but gutless politically correct poster that I am I chose not to display it. However, for the bold and adventurous seeking enlightenment and amusement after their kind, it can be found on this page -

I have never been to Sherwood Forest, but it sounds like an interesting neighbourhood.

There is no such word as "minche" in the urban dictionary. Per your link.

Other Nations I can not comment...............
