    S Hondros Carolina Flare

I have rounded (filleted) several edges in rhino and when it gets to the corner it dosn't seem smooth after trimming. How would one go about making nice rounded edges and also have the corners flow really well with those three edges?

    Thanks

    Scott

Scott I think this thread should have been in the software forum, but anyway. A lot of programmes just can’t do this, but is this what you are trying to do.

Fillet in rhino is a pain !!! (it is known)
For complex fillets I use pipes, trim surfaces and "fillet by hand"
I would like to open an entire forum called www.howthehelldoifilletthiswithrhino.com

    Fede

I'm afraid Fede is right, doing it "manual" often is the only way to get a decent result in Rhino.

Try combining the surfaces into a polysurface and then use the fillet command under the solids menu.

It doesn't need to be a closed object to work.

That does not work when there is the need for comp'licated variable radius fillets....you will get monsters of any kind.

Perhaps we've stumbled across something McNeel hasn't sorted out in Rhino yet... wonder if they'd be willing to expand the filleting options in the next release? Or perhaps in 4.0 SR1?

yes, I guess that McNeel knows and they will try to imprve in the next release or in the future service packs.
Browsing around I've noticed that Rhino and Solidworks are becoming more and more "friendly" one with each other,it's already possible to import export from the 2 programs in the native format of the other and many people use SOlidworks for complex fillets (or other solid modeling prog),release 12 of maxsurf wil try to become friend with rhino (import rhino trims )
I?m pretty shure that the design firm with no big economical problems will end up using Maxsurf,Rhino and Solidworks, this very expensive (probably something around 18 000 $) set up will let the designer work fluently and with very few limits.
