Portuguese, French, German, Italian...None seem to contain the essential sailing term: 'Baggywrinkle'. Only Spanish offers a composite - 'Dobladura-holgado'... But ask yourselves, gentleman, does that really 'trip off the tongue?'

Who's operating and designing boatdesign.net?

I guess we would need to know who is operating and designing this web site. We could provide the definition information as a group and translations. It would be nice if we had it as a pop-up function of the web site that opens into a separate small window. Choose the "from" language, choose the "to" language and write the word in a box and hit the return key. Should be simple.

What the hell is a "Baggywrinkle"? I can read Spanish almost as well as Portuguese...but I am afraid that I will have to ask you to explain to me what means "Dobladura-holgado"

A 'baggywrinkle' ? Vega - you disappoint me...Surely you're not one of these dreadful people who believe that sailing should be done in multihulls - or nasty smelly atmospheric polluting stinkpots called 'motor-sailers' ?
And you from one of the oldest and most respected sailing nations in the world ?
A baggywrinkle (which you knew anyway) is that odd looking toilet brush thing attached to the shrouds which prevents the sail from chaffing itself to pieces.
I must admit "Dobladura-holgado" was my own translation - a composite of - baggy/ragged/incorrect fitting - and wrinkle/fold/curve in material or skin...
Perhaps it lost something in the translation....

....
No, cause I only sail when the weather is like this:

http://rickychalmers.brinkster.net/u...ughWeather.mpg

and a multihull is a bit uncomfortable for me, when the sea is not flat.

Ah, mi amigo Masrapido - Me doy, Yo desapropiarse....I was foolish to try translating 'baggywrinkle' into Spanish.
My attempt at translating your reply appears even worse: I gather you are inviting me to an orgy ? And you forecast much spicey meat ?

It's commendable to try and learn the most popular language in the world -spanish- but for dobladura-holgado, you're going on a spit, bergalia...
