hiking wings - soto40?

Hiking wings on a yacht seems like a cheat of the basic design rule "no hollows", but now allowed at bow.

When handicapping how are they rated, to reflect the performance enhancement or more to discourage their use?

To me they are fine on yachts that allow hiking outside of life-lines or on dinghies; the righting-moment is not strictly tied to the hull form.

... And a monohull, being a hull with no hollows... A simple principle that puts beam's power and drag at odds.

It will not be right to call a 60ft moth, a monohull, with the L/disp (wave-drag) and SA/disp of multihull.
