High-Tech Concept boats

Just recently, Mr. Doug Lord hauled-out a dusty, shop worn reference to "one of the Herrshoffs" and a concept design for an above deck sliding ballast system as a distinctly pointed finger in the direction of modern times boat design.

"One of the Herreshoffs used just such a system in the 1800's on his favorite boat" Doug Lord quote from posting number 4 on the hi-jacked, "Rig moving laterally!" thread.
Rig moving laterally !

Whatever happened to fresh, creative thought?

I stumbled across this collection of old timey water craft while browsing recently. It's my opinion that a few folks here should be able to look through these nicely drawn boat renderings and find a choice nugget or two from Yester Year technology for their next big techno splash.

Certainly, they wouldn't be any more ungainly than a big motorized track running smack dab across the deck of your boat with a huge weighted carriage flinging itself madly from side to side.

Since all this material is well out of patent, please help yourselves to the ideas... The Herreshoff's have been pilfered, why shouldn't you enjoy the works of others?

The bar is open for discussion and the first drink is on me.

Haha, nice!

I really like the trimaran, and the "screw-as-a-hull", which, btw, somehow also is the float. Come to think of it, it seems to lack something to keep it from tipping over.

Aside from the sarcastic reference to our Vice President in hiding, I have quietly spent the last ten years in the pursuit of financial understandings with a number of geographically well situated watering holes. They have accepted my aloof nature as "quirky behavior", not unlike many of their friends occupying well-worn seats.
