Most boat paint manufacturers will tell you the coverage of their paint "Our wonderful improved bottom paint will cover xx sq.ft." Same thing as on a house - figure out the square footage and go from there. Tape measures are flexible so you can measure "rounded objects. Figure out the surface area on one side of the keel and multiply by two.

250 to 350 square feet of bottom per gallon, depending on manufacture.

Bottom paint

A lot depends on how long between haul outs and also sailing or mooring conditions. On my 30 foot S2 center cockpit sloop, I put on two coats of hard bottom paint every February. One reason is that the boat is docked up a river not far from the ocean and accumulates the normal amount of marine growth that is removed by having a diver scrub the bottom monthly and therefore wear off some of the paint. The second reason is that we do a lot of cruising in areas with stirred up sandy bottoms that have an abrasive action on the bottom paint. 250 to 300 square feet per gallon sounds about right, but use the good stuff not the brand carried by Home Depot or other stores that have opened a "marine section" and push low quality marine products just to get your money.
