| Good books to get started in yacht design Hi all Please excuse my lack of knowledge at this moment in time. I am interested in getting into yacht design and was wondering if some of you might be able to recommend some good books to get me started. I hve tried reading through 'Yacht design by Larsson' but it assumes that you already have some basic knowledge, which I don't. My background is a masters degree in aircraft design so I have a good grip of engineering concepts etc but am looking to convert from aircraft to yachts. I don't currently have any sailing experience either. Thanks Ady  |

| Ted Brewer's book (Understanding Boat Design) on boat design is a good primer. It'll get you up to speed on terms and the general concepts and principles. Larsson's will be an easier read afterward. |

| Skene's Elements of Yacht Design (8th edition) redone by Francis S. Kinney is another good book, as is The Nature of Boats by Dave Gerr |
