| Glazing over. This is not about the look im my eyes when someone is BORING me! Rather, a chance look from my office window at a passing car reminded me how the car's windows resembled in outline the pilot house windows on many medium sized motor cruisers that I have seen over the years. In most cases the wind screen (shield) is laminated and some even have heaters in them. The side windows are toughened glass, many with electric operation, reliabily sealed from the elements. Has anyone transferred the technology to their boats? The door window frames could be moulded in ply/epoxy laminate from the original frames and assembled with new OE seals. Cars take an enormous battering from the weather, so their systems are very well engineered. To the junkyards Gentlemen and salvage those Hinckley Picnic boat profile lookalike cars. Pericles |

| Interesting idea... electric windows on a boat~ I wonder how the components would stand up to salt spray over time? Speaking of windows, this is a little off topic but i installed a 6" diameter window right smack dab in the middle of the cockpit floor of the Good Skiff. (flatbottom). It is AWESOME! I used a piece of 3/4" thick, optically pure, bullet resistant glass in a two piece SST housing. Flush finish on the bottom, clear inspection cover inside... |
