Glass thickness

Can anyone point me towards some rules / formula's for determining how thick the glass should be in both side and front facing 'windows'?

MatC, if you google up (I'm pretty sure its online for free?) the USLC or uniform shipping laws code there's a formula in there for thickness of toughened glass for fwd & side windows, also I think they specify a max dimension for application & also sure there's theres a requirement for restraint for loads from inwards & outwards loading.Regards from Jeff.
