Glass Bottom Boats

Can anyone give me any advice on glass partitions installed in the bottom of a boat. What I'm looking for is glass types and thicknesses, bottom rigidity requirements, sealing, installation methods, personal experiences, pros, cons, web sites, etc. ANY information at all would be useful.

Thanx Large, Joey

glass bottoms

Most use lexan. Any thing over 1/2 inch is concidered bullet resistant. seal it with butial calk. The thickness depends on how big your window is.
hope this helps

Joey,

Lexan is good for the impact resistance, but does not subsistude for bottom strenght. So, the window frame should be reinforced, how much depends on the size. Sealing can be done with Sika or similar. And I'd think of ways to save your skin when a window springs a leak (blinds, inflatable seals, anything).

Good luck,

Peter

Arrow,

Informative: How thick for window glass

The formula for glass thickness can, in principal, also be used in your case, just adjust the design pressure.
