First, there is NO "typical passanger vessel"

There are cruise ships, ocean liners, cargo liners, ocean passage ro-ro ferries, inland ro-ro ferries, commuter ferries, water taxis, etc. They are all "passanger vessels" and they have very different general arrangements based upon needs and service. The question is too broad.
