A-Frame Mast

    The A-frame was also popular and important in the development of iceboats from gaff rigs to lateen rigs, 100 years or so ago. Advantage of being able to raise the lateen mast. Another advantage with iceboats was the way it distributed the loads. Downside is windage, which led to the stayed cat rigs we see today.[​IMG]

    Windage is always the problem with bi-pod rigs.
