folding sailing dinghies

I am wanting to build a folding sailing dinghy, similar to the Seahopper range eg., the Kontender. (These can be found at www.seahopper.com). These dinghies fold flat for storage and range from 7-10feet long. I live in australia where these boats are not sold and am wanting to try my hand at making one myself - has anyone heard of plans for such a boat? Regards Dansz

Have you contacted the manufacturers?
I believe they do have resellers in some countries & I've heard of them being sold & used outside the UK.

(I have 2, arrival of kids meant we needed a larger one, but then I'm in the UK anyway)

plans similar to seahopper

I am almost through building my second generation of a Seahopper-like folding dinghy. My 80 year old mother named it the flapdoodle.

More info can be found here: http://flapdoodle.250free.com/

Seahopper-like folding dinghy plans

I have the CD ready for distribution now. 28 megabytes of detailed plans and photos. It is $29 plus S&H. http://flapdoodle.250free.com/

Changes...

There was not one request for a CD, but some for files by e-mail, so I compressed all the graphics and now have plans available by e-mail.

Halfling

You can try my Halfling design. It is a nesting design, not a folding design. Nested, it takes up less space than if it were folded. The whole boat can be made out of 4 sheets of plywood. The spars are Douglas fir closet poles, or similar type of round wood pole. Nearly 300 have been built around the world. You can see the details on my website at:

http://www.sponbergyachtdesign.com/HalflingPlan.htm

The plans cost only US$25 which includes overseas airmail delivery. Cash is nice.
