folding dinghys

hello everyone. i am looking for a good folding dinghy plan, there are several plans on the net, i would like to know if anyone has built one and what they think of it. something 7 or 8 foot that can carry 2 adults and row fairly well. i have to row about 300 mts to my mooring and need to carry the folded dinghy in my car. i currently use a 9 ft inflatable and hate it. i like the look of portabotes but they are to costly.

some "kid" on this forum did a nice homebuilt/plans

quite small and simple dingy, sounds like exactly what you are looking for.

He was also selling plans.

I'll try to dig it up.

It was at least a year ago, IIRC.

just google folding boats ....you may consider a nesting design where the 2 or 3 parts fit inside one another for transport

thats another option as long as it is small enough to fit in the back of our territory .

I found the thread/website. Similar to "Orgami" but I think

it has a better carrying feature.

New Folding Tender Design

http://www.concertinaboats.com/

two adults might be too much, but I'm sure the plans could be easily stretched in any dimension.

Hi Whitepointer

Don't like to answer your post by not answering the direct question, but have you considered a kayak which can be carried on a roofrack. Also it can be towed behind a boat to access reefs for snorkling etc. Sorry, what I mean is anchor the boat get on the kayak to access the reefs.

Just adds that extra dimension to boating.
