I think that you can be confident that if anyone creates a foiling Opti that is stable and easy to foil, it will be very, very different from the concept boat.

    Foiling Optimist

The better quality video above is longer than the facebook version and shows the boat using the standard Opti rig. Hopefully, this will make its way to youtube.

Graphene and hydrofoils gives optimist dinghy superpowers
Students and researchers at Chalmers University of Technology and SSPA Sweden has designed and developed an optimist dinghy with supreme capabilities. By using a composite with added graphene the hull is made stronger and lighter. Hydrofoils are added to lift the boat, decreasing drag and allowing greater speeds. After experimenting and testing in SSPA:s ship research and development facility in Gothenburg, Sweden, the dinghy is ready to be tried out at sea for the first time. @axelrahmsailing will do the honors.

Now that they have a composite hull with excellent hydrofoils maybe this is the next step:

More on the development of another Foiling Optimist-see post 65 above for the first one by Chalmers:

Note: this version has the wand on the back side of the daggerboard(like the Whisper Cat) whereas the original Chalmers version had the wand off the bow! The new version used a standard hull and off the shelf aluminum foil profiles where the original was all carbon.
