First off, I see a lot of "surface area" or "area under the waterline". This equates to more drag, which means using more power or going slower with the same power of a more conventional design. Is there any way you can confirm my observation? Can you calculate/measure the submerged surface area of your design and one of the others shown or talked about? Cool looking model, very exciting feel to it. ![]() Do you have any predictions for rough weather lateral stability? Will the horizontal planes allow the boat to be "slapped about"?

| It really depends on whether you spend more time getting there or being there. For instance, i don't do daytrips because they are too stifiling. If you value your time spent at the more remote destinations, you are better off with a boat that will best allow you to BE there. The flatbottom skiff sits out the nights well and allows you to get a good night sleep on the water. I woke up this morning 80nm from port, it was a gentle white capp flow all the way home.... Two nights on the water, 8 hours getting there and back~ I prefer to be comfortable while i am there* |
