I'm not a true boat guy (hovercraft guy), but I'll give you my two cents worth of opinion, weigh it as you will.

First off, I see a lot of "surface area" or "area under the waterline". This equates to more drag, which means using more power or going slower with the same power of a more conventional design.

Is there any way you can confirm my observation?

Can you calculate/measure the submerged surface area of your design and one of the others shown or talked about?

Cool looking model, very exciting feel to it.

Do you have any predictions for rough weather lateral stability? Will the horizontal planes allow the boat to be "slapped about"?

It really depends on whether you spend more time getting there or being there. For instance, i don't do daytrips because they are too stifiling. If you value your time spent at the more remote destinations, you are better off with a boat that will best allow you to BE there. The flatbottom skiff sits out the nights well and allows you to get a good night sleep on the water. I woke up this morning 80nm from port, it was a gentle white capp flow all the way home....

Two nights on the water, 8 hours getting there and back~

I prefer to be comfortable while i am there*
