| As far as I know, phenolic resins are suitable for exhausts, because those resins are the best ones for high temperatures (around 160°C). If interested, I can post some pictures of large frp exhausts (1000 HP).

| Hi, Hope these pictures can inspire you. You can see exhaust pipe with low speed and high speed pipes. They have been laminated with phenolic resins. You can also see waterjet ducts. They have been laminated together with the hull, on a 4 pieces plug.

| When we design an exhaust system where FRP tubing will be required, this is what we use. The exhaust should never approach temperatures of 160c, but we know what debris can do to a water intake. Also, we only use silicon hose connections that also have the same temperature rating. I hope this helps.

| Besides building exhaust systems for major O.E.M. builders, we do a lot of replacement systems. In some cases we see frp tubing or mufflers that have overheated. The source of the excessive heat in the exhaust after it has been cooled by the raw water could be many things, obstruction to the water going to the exhaust mixer tank, clogged diffuser, or a system not designed for a specific engine and/or application. By using a higher rated frp resin and silicon hose, adds a little insurance against damage. Considering the differeance in price, it's well worth the protection.
