Engine price/output

Hello!

Can anyone help me with some literature or references on marine diesel engine prices relatet to power output? Let's say $/kW.

To obtain serious answers you have to add at least the power range you are looking for. Other important considerations are rpm and type of injection.

Only thing I know is the range... 300-3000 kW.

Recent quote for medium speed (less than 1000 RPM) 32cm bore turbo engine package (true marine diesels) in the 3000kW output range;
- Euro 350 per kW for the inline engines
- Euro 300 per kW for the Vee versions

if you go for higher speed (more than 1000 RPM) and less output the ratio will be less - perhaps by a factor as much as 1.6.

OOO Ya, Christ the last two Volvos 3cyl. 29hp with hurth transmissions I installed in customers boats were over the $10,000 range each. This is not to knock Volvo'S prices as all the manufacturers seem to be in the same range.Be nice to see a price comparison listed on a thread here on the forum which might create a price war and realistic prices. Geo.

Smaller engines are cost less on a $/kw basis than big engines. It isn't the same, you need to narrow your range.
