| Earthrace The Earthrace aims to smash the globe circumnavigating record by completing the voyage in less than 65 days (Currently 75 days, Cable & Wireless), using renewable fuel. Boat has been launched. I don't know if they'll do it, but they are really belling it out! http://www.earthrace.net/

| Sounds good to me what I've read on the stuff - got to be a good start to becoming free of the black gold! And nothing to do with the post (I'm like that) but what are we going to do about about replacing kerosene for lamps etc (one hellofa lot of the world depends on that stuff - not just for playtoys!) ![]() |

| While we have airplanes flying around, it's going to be difficult to avoid the use of the black stuff. And lamps' kerosene is quite close to airplanes kerosene.... By the way, I love lighting the interior of my boat with the kesrosene lamps. Very cozy and batteries saving. I even have kerosene navigation lights for when night wind sailing.

| Fantastic! but really what use is it? I suppose it will prove you can go like '5h1t of a shovel' using the old oil from the chip pan, but with some restaurants we know that anyway! ![]() |

| John Cobb http://www.geocities.com/athens/forum/8287/cobb.html http://www.lesliefield.com/personali...to_gallery.htm I was struck by the resemblance between the Earthrace boat and John Cobb's 1952 water speed record boat. |

Looks are not everything neither are first impressions. I think this new ship has more in common with a submarine if it's not careful. |

| John Cobb Sadly, Cobb's boat ended trying to become a submarine. |

Campbell's boat spent a few seconds as an airplane first. |
