Cobb's crash is widely believed to have been a structural failure from the forward planing surface being overstressed. |

| Something took my attention, about this Earthrace. If we visit their pages an look for Prototype... http://www.earthrace.net/view.asp?webpage=143 we find the same prototype displayed here: http://www.diogenemarine.com/testing65m.html But they don't talk about the other one....(??) Diogenemarine is developing a new series of wave piercing trimarans, the C-Rex, backed by Craig Loomes Design and Dag Pike as consultor. I'm surprised. Anybody knows what's happening?

| Doesn't seem like there's any design piracy going on, if that's what you're driving at Guillermo - If you go through Craig Loomes's godawful website, eventually you find: Wavepiercing Trimaran The grey test model pictured was funded by Diogene Marine of Mauritious to prove the concept for an 20m recreational vessel and a 53m passenger ferry respectively. Essentially a single wavepiercer demi-hull, with small stabilizers, early work on efficiency and stability is encouraging and development continues. The model has been fitted with acceleration data logging equipment so that comparisons can be made with similarly sized planing monohulls and catamarans in a known sea state. Further provisional design work is under way for a local client on a vessel of 22m length for a round the world speed record attempt, before retirement as a distinctive charter venture. The reason is they all try for the same goals , cheap to keep at .80mach, low maint and simple pilot skills. Is it a wonder that all the boats designed to attempt a similar stunt look similar?
