Mr Azulkhai, i think you better not design that hull, because the hull have been already develope by Design 3 students, that have been conducted by Dr Adi MAimun bin Abd MAlik. Just use the existing hull to create the model for resistance, seakeeping experiment

double chine hull

hi there...
i want to know on this hull to make some comparison in terms of performance between this twin chine with the single. which one is the better one. i've heard that the double chine is more reliable and good in hydrodynamic, more stable and .... than single chine. Is it true? Is there have any method used to design this double chine? now i have a design of single chine patrol boat....and I eager to compare this boat with the double chine hull form. Therefore i get to know the method or tecnique to develop this chine..
bye..

Re: double chine hull

Hi
We tested double chine hull, see photos.

We can conclude that at low Fr double hull has somewhat greater drag than round hull, and smaller drag than single chine hull. At high Fr (semi-planning and more) single chine hull can posess smaller drag than double chine because of better flow separation.

The idea of sharp chine design is to locate chines along streamlines. We use our own AutoLISP software for the purpose.
