Displacement hull design for lower horsepower (british seagull) I would like to make a fast boat that uses a british seagull engine, they are probably 2-4hp depending on which model. The boat needs to carry 2 people, gas and a cooler. Currently i do 14mph in my boat thats 24ft long, 28" wide on the floor, and its made by 2 peices of 24ft 14" wide ply and 2 10" 24ft peices (all straight cuts) and then 1 layer of fiberglass down the middle on the inside. total weight is probably 120 or so http://www.saving-old-seagulls.co.uk...1184&mode=view http://www.saving-old-seagulls.co.uk...1226&mode=view Those are examples of some boats (black one is carbon fiber, 32ft long) anyone have any ideas? the race is around bermuda.. or how to make a boat like mine but take the rock out of it (when you put the two bottom halfs together the bottom bows about 2inchs) last but not least, what is good boat design software where i can test different things and see how it works according to the computer?

For such slender hulls you can use Michlet for the power prediction and Freeship for hull modelling and exporting into Michlet. As has been noted by messabout, the race, it's rules and the related boat design issues were discussed in several threads in the past: Seagull Racing boat designing help!! PLEASE! The last one has been created by you several years ago, and you've got some good replies there.

No help there then. ![]() Perhaps people don't like old two-stroke outboards. Maybe you should have put fast rowboat, pedal powered, eco, seagull on the back in the title. ![]() H-A
