Thanks Joz,

Will and I went though a process last year, on this topic. But we came to a halt, when our situations did not work out at the time. He was busy with a new project and I had other comitments and needs as time progressed.
This is a feeler to gauge what new ideas are about and perhaps will see me return to Will, Thankyou for the suggestion though.

Time.

No other takers?

I will attempt to give you a list everything I require from the boat, in no particular order.

- Sprint Speed of ~60knots (some what malliable)
- Seating for 5
- LOA 9.5m MAX
- Max beam of 2.8m
- Excellent rough sea handelling
- Berth for 2
- Storage for 4 sets of dive gear
- Ecnomical/effecient design
- 500nm range

The Australian offshore challange operates in the Bass straight between mainland Australia and Tasmaina, it sees conditions that are quite difficult, so good see keeping is essential.

Other then that, I prefer to leave the rest to you. I have found a loose framework an essential fostering ground for intuitive and progressive design.

Past discussions on the topic have yielded, reasonable suggestions, including the following.
- monomoran idea with Rib and semi stuffing bow.
- trimiran similar to eathrace
- Deep V monohull
- wave piercing VSV (vsv version of a craig loomes waver piercing mono)
- wave piercing cat.

Please feel free to explore all avenues of design.

Information on the challange can be found here.

Just off hand that sounds like one hell of a challange.....Capable of 60 knots.....500nm range? At what speed? Has any 9.5m boat actually done this? Is this boat classed?

Your link would not work for me.

Well like was mentioned above, the 60 knots is quite open for discussion as are most of the other parameters. I do envisage 35 knots or there abouts as a cruising speed.

I"m not sure what is wrong with the link. but if you do a google search, you will find the information.

Any progress?

Hello,

I wonder if you made any progress in designing your race powerboat. I am interested in the similar idea of a monohull vsv powerboat, more or less the same dimensions. Have you found any designer yet or have you given it up?

Regards, Thom

Sure, the design was fully evaluated and finalised but never built due to a lack of capital on the part of an investor. Unfortunatley i'm not able to enter into further discussion.

Adding to my post above,

The design was completed inc CAD files construction notes and scheduling. Several models were also tank tested and fully evaluated.
With performance predeiction very close to what I required.
I had yard ready to construct and would go back to them should i decide to build the boat at a later date.

This will be my final post in this topic.
