I saw this photo in the gallery's new pics today and it reminded me of this ol' string about rounded windows.
http://www.boatdesign.net/gallery/sh...hp/photo/11900

If those rounded, instead of back-slanted, windows look so good on a 100' boat (and they really do), why not on a 50'? I think that's called a "Mississippi Bridge." I think I'm going to have that design on my 50 footer after I sell a few traditional designs to pay for it.

It would be a lot easier to mount a 50-caliber on the brow of a rounded bridge like that too...an important consideration down here in FL with tourist season fast approaching!

I realise this really doesn't show the tilt of the windows properly but I'm not really a boat designer and I'm at work. You'll have to imagine the section under the curve on the cabin being about 6 inches further in at the bottom and flaring out at the back.

Sorry for the terrible scan quality.

"Portugese wheelhouse" is the term we use in the land downunder....but what would we know, everything is upside down here anyhow.

I hate having to walk on the ceiling all the time......think i had better go have another tablet.......pink, yes pink is nice

I've heard that...or a "Portuguese Bridge." I just don't see why it only works on 30m+ vessels or trawlers. This is a nice design with a Port. bridge - check out that great little flybridge helm:

When I was in Hong Kong, I did everything I could to get a few Australian women upside down. I cannot share the details except for agreeing that, indeed, "pink is nice."

A well-proportioned wheelhouse visor is as important to "the look" as the slant of the windows.
