| Design brief for anti-whaling vessel? what would the required attributes be of an effective purpose designed anti-whaling vessel? the need to move fast and also have an efficient green engine. but what else? Maybe part of the question is what it would be used for in respect to anti whaling? looking at through the internet i can only find one purpose built anti-whaling vessel. (though not actually built yet the "Pauly Shore") but i don't think that this vessel is that well designed. it looks to fancy and lacking in robustness. link to Pauly shore design: http://www.ecorazzi.com/2010/04/01/s...anese-whalers/ |

| yeah did see it was on april first but still thought the design was serious. also i had previously heard, from somewhere else, that the sea shepherd conservation society were building a purpose built anti whaling vessel. |

| I'd first sit down and draw up the requirements for a whaling vessel and how it does what it does

| I suggest one mothership fast enough to follow the whalers and big enough to carry some hundred windsurfers to get in the way of the harpoons. |

I didn't mean you would add any advice on building an anti-whaling vessel. But the boat in the link was the subject of a thread on here a while ago wasn't it? I couldn't find that thread anymore. The boat won a "green design award" among a panel of "experts" none of which had the faintest idea about navel architecture. The boat looked to have about 10 meter draft and a keel bulb that would be almost big enough to sink the boat and it was supposedly solar powered with tiny panels.Does anyone have link? |
