That is correct.

The statement about the "biodiesel" just to some extend. It is not uncommon, that the vegetable oil production and collection, can consume half of the energy content in these oils.

But that is another thread and must not be discussed here.

Yes, with whale oil one could conceivably remain on station indefinitely. The Japanese sure do have some unique food fetishes. A friend in Australia had a huge duck farm. Her main customer was Japan. Not so much for the ducks, but for their eyes (duck eye soup). Imagine being raised just to have your bloody eyes ripped out!

Love 'em. My driller on an oil rig in Oklahoma brought some to work one day, and offered them to the California hippie (me). I scarphed 'em down, and he gave me some more.

I think many engines are green in the design phase, but not so green in real life!
