deisel with hydrogin

there's a guy selling a contraption around home here that makes hydrogin gas aboard your boat to burn with diesel, threw the air intake i suppose,i have heard about things like this but not of anyone actually building them to sell, also promising 20% better fuel economy.Anyway a buddy of mine spoke for one,so i guess i will hear eventually but does anyone know if this will work?

Diesel and gasoline are hydrocarbon compounds which can be broken down to generate hydrogen in a vehicle, which can be fed directly into a carbureter. Not necessarily easy but I know of one patent on the process. Several years after the patent was granted and some work done by one of the big three, I know of no practical operating vehicle using it. I know of it because a friend has an interest in it. If it were working well, he would be living higher than he is. I'd be skeptical of such fixits on the market though.

In the present political climate I am all ears. I for one would be very interested to hear of any developments on this story.

Making hydrogen gas isn't hard. Just Quick charge your battery. Making it economically & in large quantity's? Well now, that part hasn't been figured out yet.
This "guy" has chosen to sell a few "machines" to a local few, rather than hold a CNN press meeting and then contact the auto industry? Oh wait! I know! "they're" trying to kill him, right? Does your friend buy bridges? I own several & I'm selling cheap.
.
Now on to the physics of a diesel engine, high compression & injection. Yeah, a gas lighter than air with a low flash point & high volatility is gonna do just fine!
give me a break!!!

propane is heaver than air,,thats why it should not be in boats,,(bilge factor),,works great on 4 wheel drive mud runners and hill climbers(diesles) that sometimes need to be faster than the law,, so I can get my shine,,,,longliner

A few facts.
1. Diesel engines operate at very high compression ratios, meaning that the vaporised fuel is highly compressed.
2.Hydrogen is a very volatile fuel which can cause knocking or pinging in gasoline internal combustion engines (which have lower compression ratios).
3. Hydrogen can easily be generated on board a vehicle by use of an electrolysis unit powered by an on board alternator or generator. Whether it would provide an energy advantage is questionable because it takes energy to run the electrolysis unit. The electrolysis unit is less than 60% efficient.
4. The hydrogen cannot be simply sucked into the engine by intake manifold vacuum pressure, because if the hydrogen gas were used up, then the caustic/acid electrolyte could be sucked into the engine, causing serious damage.
5. The hydrogen does not have to be pure in order to be used for a fuel in an engine.
6. A small amount of volatile fuels can be added to a liquid fuel to increase the energy content of each combustion event. This would be tricky to do with out very accurate computerized monitoring of engine conditions.

Speculation:
If you could store hydrogen on board, it might be better to make it with solar energy while the vehicle/vessel is not in use.

I would be willing to trade one of my bridges for the magic beans your friend got when he sold the family cow, unless he has already traded them for the Hydrogen fuel machine.
If I can use "this" money, I want one too!

As cold starting aid for Diesel engines aether sprayed in the air filter. Only for old engines... Have seen few a bit burned faces..

.
And I have seen 1 piston with a big hole in it.
Try a spray, "penetrating" oil like WD-40. Much safer Teddy
