Custom 30

I have the moulds and tooling for a popular 30 foot racing boat. I am wanting to build a n ew version of it and would like to go with an updated lift keel ( melges style ) any one have any good ideas on how to do this and on how to make sure the new keel is in its proper place on the hull ? any info would be appreciated,

An odd notion just struck me...you could hire a yacht designer.

Custom,

Serious answer....I don't know how much work is involved as I know almost nothing about your needs at this point. But I currently charge $85 CAD per hr., and this sort of advice/drawing/engineering project would best be approached on an hourly basis.

But your best (most efficient) bet would be to contact the original designer for update work. He (or she) knows the boat, has the original design to work from, and knows the performance and how to improve it.

Second bet would be to contact some of the current racing guys working with similar sized boats and find an existing keel design.

Steve (Saildesign on this forum) Baker is one http://members.aol.com/saildesign/pr...cbweb/home.htm

Another might be Tim Kernan //http://www.waterplane.com/

Or Mark Mills

Good luck, Tad
