converting outboard to inboard????

i had just threw a rod in my 150 merc. and i have been looking at my 5.0 in the shed sence. anyway i was wondering if anyone has done this and what it takes to put a 5.0 ho out of a lincoln mark 7 into my 17' speed hull????? i have heard that you cant do it.....but that sounds like crap to me and i figured i would try to find someone that knows how bad i want that motor in my boat, to help me on my venture. thanks to everyone toocan
