Converting a displacement hull for planning?

    Thanks to your help and opinions I will modify my hull next year.
    my conclusions are:
    - weight , power , hullform are important
    - the modification with a sufficient plate can be done at small budget.
    - a testrun will hopefully show at least a semi displacement increase of speed
    with 17hp
    - More wishes are a question of more power at the given weight - to be decided
    during next year.

    Tom:
    A lot of Shad boats were modified that way. Some Bay boats too, because they squated too much. I am sure they are disappearing with time.

    Somehow this has escaped my notice and I will look into it the next time I'm at the Maritime Museum. I have sailed a traditional shad boat and it is abominably slow.
