I just picked up a NIB Inglis. Happy as a kid at christmas.

I've pretty much sworn off gun forums; seems like they're all carbon copies of each other when it comes to being a place to bash Democrats, Liberals and especially Obama. To help me taper off instead of quitting cold turkey, I started my own forum last month after I got booted:

And congratulations on your new toy. My particular obsession runs to Mosin Nagants. I have a couple dozen, ranging from a New England Westinghouse M91 and Tula Peter the Great M91, on up to an Ishevsk 91/59. I also have a little of this and that, from bolt action shotguns to a Smith & Wesson Chiefs Special I inherited from my mother-in-law. It was her nightstand gun for thirty years, and probably hadn't been fired a dozen times.

If you have pics of your new gun, I'd be pleased if you posted them on my forum along with a little bit of information. I'm totally unfamiliar with what an NIB Inglis might be.

It might. But a beer would probably work better.

Yep. And I have a paintball gun in the collection, too. A few years back I got tired of being a target for my teenaged boys, and started shooting back.

It was all good clean fun, until the day we found out orange paint balls leave stains on the clearcoat of an automobile. Specifically, on the clearcoat of my wife's minivan.....

Fortunately the stains eventually faded out, between the sun and a few car washes

I know this thread has went to craps at about page 15

However - as a slightly related thing I was playing with the math for using compressed air as energy cache for small scale wind/solar whatnot local energy solutions. It seems that it might be able to com close to lead acid solutions in terms of efficiency and maybe challenge in cost.

So my scenario would be a 5 cubic meter tank under ground made out of steel reinforced concrete. 1.2m diameter would give enough room for maintenance inside - 5m length would give 5.3 cubic meters.

my calculations give ideal conditions storage of 80 kwh at 20 bar of pressure. Real life case might be quite different due to heat dissipation and the efficiency of the turbine/piston engine that converts the energy back to useful form.

You guys have better grasp of concrete structures so what kind of well thicknesses should one be looking at 20 bar 1.2m diameter cylinder. I guess one could go down to smaller and longer tube if need - 1m tunnel is still very manageable for a full size man to enter.

This is more of a mental exercise than a real project. And nobody has to be inside the tank...
