    There are several types of coring that is very light. Plywood is a bit heavier, but also a lot cheaper. Dyvinicell is flexible, light and economical.

    But, the Mcgregor 36 typically uses a pair of 40 hp motors, and the max power I have seen on them after being converted to tuna chasers are a pair of 100's.
    I have seen old 36' hulls for sale for as little as $7500. The sponsons are not huge, but they do have interior galleys and bunks. Because they can be broken down for transport, they might work for your remote location.
