Cardboard and veneer bulkhead

A friend of mine who raced formula 15 (15HP outboards) use to make bulkheads with corrugated cardboard sandwiched between 3mm plywood. This was before honeycomb and other lightweight cores were available. It was pretty common at the time. I suppose it would still be hard to beat the price/performance ratio.

I made panels once for a catamaran for a cardboard race boat race. The honeycomb core and the skins were cardboard. Worked fine but time to build the panels make cost savings a moot point.
