Building a small skiff (First time builder) Like the title says, I want to build a small sailing skiff with a rig similar to (if not actually) a Laser Standard and a hull less than 12 feet, beam of about 48 inches and draft of less than a foot without centerboard. With such a narrow hull hiking racks would probably be put on. So to sum it up: Hull like a short International Canoe Rig of a Laser Standard Racks like a Musto Skiff Transom outrigger like an International Moth To be sailed by someone 95lbs Could a first time builder make something like this?

Yes imagine that except a little shorter and a good bit narrower. And quite a bit lighter too.

Why not build it to the moth class rules? That will allow you to race in a fleet (if one exists where you live) and possibly boost resale value. You may also be able to source components more easily instead of needing to fully specifying everything.
