| Book recommendations please I am thinking about designing and building a small daysailing trimaran using foam glass sandwich method. I have in the past reads some books about design and building including: - Kinney, Francis S. Skene's Elements of Yacht design - Marchaj, C. A.: SAILING THEORY AND PRACTICE - Phillips-Birt, Douglas: SAILING YACHT DESIGN These are at least 25 years old and I think I should read some newer ones. Our library has "Principles of Yacht Design", which I am going to read. I would like to hear opinions about other books that would be useful study material before final design and building. In Amazon.com there are following books I am considering: - The Elements of Boat Strength: For Builders, Designers, and Owners (Dave Gerr) - Multihulls for Cruising and Racing (Derek Harvey) - The Catamaran Book (Brian Phipps) - The Cruising Multihull (Chris White) - Fiberglass & Composite Materials (D. Aird Forbes ) - Glass-fibre Handbook (R.H. Warring) - Fiberglass Repair and Construction Handbook (Jack Wiley) - The Art and Science of Sails: A Guide to Modern Materials, Construction, Aerodynamics, Upkeep and Use (Whidden) - Sail Performance : Techniques to Maximize Sail Power (C.A. Marchaj) - The Physics of Sailing Explained (Bryon D. Anderson) It would be nice to hear comments about these books and also if there are other books that you think would be useful. |

| That's quite a book list. Leave some time to build the boat. ![]() Some book threads: http://boatdesign.net/forums/showthr...ghlight=stairs And a older one: http://boatdesign.net/forums/showthr...light=interior You might want to post your question in the Multihull section of the forum. At least read the article in this thread: http://boatdesign.net/forums/showthread.php?t=21267

I like the hulls Retired Geek recently posted for instance. Link: http://boatdesign.net/forums/showthread.php?t=18037 And the hull in the article I posted is cutting edge as well. I'm just thinking that if you use a hull which works you can concentrate on the superstructure and or sails.
