    Every insurance company that I know of that totals a boat then OWNS the boat.

    They then sell (or auction) the hulk to get as much as they can from their loss.

    The whole story stinks from a lack of REALITY.

    If someone has to go to this extent to shlock some plastic core , does not it become very suspicious WHY???
