Any info on impellers

I am considering using impellers as a means of electric propulsion in a small fishing boat. I would appreciate any info on how they work, known products that use them, and any other info available. Websites and articles are always welcome. Thanks

Impellers... the term covers a huge range of pumping devices, generally any and all pumps that have some degree of radial (as opposed to purely axial) flow.... could you elaborate on what type you're thinking of?
