any ideas for legs only powered row boat?

Problems with Hobie or props is weeds and you mostly need a special boat, and they cost a lot.

How about something that drops into most canoes, aluminum runabout skiffs or SOT kayak that only uses legs, to keep hands free, and powers oars.

Maybe something that is balanced or sprung to support your leg when seated in recumbent position.

One possible advantage could be that a conventional "Oar on axis" would be a forward facing rig when your leg extension power-stroke pushes the 'handle'(foot-dle?) forward.

Would also likely eliminate need for sliding seat, which itself causes problems like weight transfer, taking up space, and extra complexity.

Maybe make the oars u-bent over the transome(welded aluminum shafts).

Check the Rocat rowing catamaran. The rowing rig is an interesting mechanism which could imo be modified to your specs: http://www.rocat.co.uk/boat/rigger.htm

Hi daiquiri,
That is neat... I was thinking of those "paddle wheel" style hire boats where 2 people can sit side-by-side and paddle aimlessley around inside a cordoned off area for 5bucks per 5 minutes
