Tom Speer, I'am keen to know about the Chrysler Marsh Screw. What is that thing actually built for ?. Can it be used in waterways that choked with vegitation? Sorry Mike hoyer, just need some info .

This one may be more along the lines of what you're looking for. It had a unique friction drive and a waterjet. Very simple.

Sure, as far as I know. It's not the only screw-powered amphibian. It's probably not very good on hard ground- there'd be a lot of friction on the edges of the spiral blades. But I remember seeing a news video of it in terrain like the Everglades, and it was doing 30 mph through just about everything you can imagine.

If the screws are counter-rotating, it goes forward and backward. If the screws are co-rotating, it goes sideways!
