All I know is I want one I AM going to build a boat in the near future. I've been around boats all of my life and I am a fairly accomplished furniture builder. What I want to build is an all wood center console (outboard) 21-23 ft. Can anyone give me any advice? I don't even know the terminology. WHERE DO I START?? Thanks for any help.

Are you going to beach it? What are you going to use it for?

You could start, for example, by taking into consideration the FAO fishing boat: ftp://ftp.fao.org/docrep/fao/007/y5649e/y5649e01.pdf see the chapter "6.3 m boat" (it's 20' 8"). It is not a center console, but could be modified in that sense. The rest of the documentation, frame dimensions and scantlings included, can be found here: http://www.fao.org/docrep/007/y5649e/y5649e00.htm

I'm gonna use it for cruising the lake to get compliments! LOL! Yes, I will beach it from time to time but mostly it'll be for dock hopping. I appreciate the reply. Does beaching make a difference? I'm clueless.

| No one has asked so far, so I will. How did you decide that 21 or 22 feet is what you need for a boat to run about the lake in? Many, if not most, will assume that an open skiff that large is meant to go into big water and will be a deep V hull. Most boats and especially deep V's that big will need a big engine using lots of fuel to zip around in. If you drop down in size a bit, the options in available designs multiply and 17 or 18 feet may still be plenty big enough for what you want.
