Alarm System

luckely the diesel keramic stove, fridge and much more was robbed before but now my tools, meters, radio, keys for fuel and watercaps, anything worth a bit is gonne again.

i was looking for a alarm system but amp usage and relaying things nobody in the more popular shops had any good answer on exept i had to go for the compleet system. well the sirene is gone now also but such a car system isnt chiep and i allready see it stolen just as well

what are you people using for protection besides a good insurance?

Take a look at harborstore.com They have a pretty good system but its not terribly cheap.

Run shore power through the life lines . . . and lots of carpet tacks placed with the business end facing up . . . maybe a solar powered live stock fence zapper along the life lines . . .

Par, thats what i like to do by now, was reading (profesional boatbuilder?) about electric railings like that as option or even better factury build that way.

seatle guest, i was looking -too long- for something with a "radar" eye for 20 bucks i had to solder myself. now i really do like that harbourmaster alarm. lots of good options but doubt if i need all. maybe a cellphone is an idea. at 900 bucks its only twice the price of a medium priced car alarm. short on bread i'm soldiering an alarm.

Sorry about your buddy, yipster, I have 4 dogs, 7 cats 2 birds (lost one this winter, I think my Viszla got him) and a couple of snakes that live in a pile of bricks I keep telling the other half will be a knee wall someday.

I haven't seen the latest BoatBuilder, does it have an article on electric rails? I was thinking along the line of those shocking wires I've used from time to time to keep horses in the pasture. I've never used the solar powered one, but know they build them. I always went with the AC powered unit, because I was under the impression the solar powered ones lacked a good zap, but with the relatively short distance around a boat, could serve well.

Dogs are the best alarm and burglar chaser going. Most don't want to fool with snapping jaws in the night, with an arm full of someone else's stuff to contend with.

If you buy an alarm system, get one with an auto dial (the cops) feature.

sure dogs are great but you cant leave them onboard to long unattended. electric railing in PBB i dont know, do read those from A to Z but dont save them. now of to make a inventory of that "arm full of someone else's stuff" i'll go for a radar eye and alarm on a seperate battery, dont want this to happen a thirth time.

electric advice for poor yachtsman anyone?
got this 6 volt motion detector that lichts a 0.3 A lamp for 20 sec.
nice thing actually and am gonna get some more for only 6 bucks.
now i started thinking if i have that 0.3 A wire control a 12 V relay that
switches the horn on instead of the licht? radio store sells parts
but dont ask questions. can this be done and what would i need?
or am i trying to cut corners to much here?

Thanks for the adres Chanman. forgot to fill you in on progres here but that relay/amp question was simple. got that relay for 3 bucks, suddered it to the bulb wires, hooked the relay as switch to the boat electra and horn and my motion detection alarm works simpel, cheap and loud. only thing left to do is hide the on/off switch.
