Airline Pilot's Boat

Email I thought I'd share with you ... God bless the fly boys.

WHAT TO DO WITH AN OLD 707. Here is one suggestion.
APPARENTLY A HARD TIME ADJUSTING TO RETIREMENT.

Hmmm - I wonder how good the aluminium was for marine use - I dont think it was meant for salt water.

I thought that's what paint was for.

nevermind the paint
how about windage - docking in a cross wind will be fun

I suppose you could call it a "fun" machine
clausterphobic, tiny windows, no "outside" area
probably good for a laugh or two, a drink for an hour, and then

get me outta here - beam me up Scotty

I'm sure some sub-mariners would see it as a day on the beach, even without the deck. In any case -- my guess is it would just roll a bit, as opposed by the sponsons. Probably pretty sturdy. I'm thinking a pilot would feel at home.

Probably not , when you pull UP it should go UP.

But the interior workmanship looks grand.

Some boats are best described as Eye Candy ,

I once saw an old WW2 fighter plane ( possibly a P-40) that had crashed near low water mark on a remote beach. After 40-odd years exposed to salt water the aluminium seemed in remarkable good condition. I've seen plenty of 'marine' alloy boats much more heavily corroded in less time.

That's what I call a good reserve buoyancy.

Cosmic Muffin is Howard Hughes's old personal plane slapped on a hull down in Florida. It is not a a 707 but some pre-jet commerical transport.

I like it,--very much.

Now you got me thinking. If you left some stubby wings on it could be a very fast boat.

You mean - a wing with a jet engine, right?

I wonder what kind of response a cruise down the Hudson would invoke...?

Actually, if I saw it floating far away at the sea I'd be very tempted to call the emergency number.
