Advice on boats and books

I have been reading this website for about 6 mnths or more gleaming all the info i can.
Me and my wife are going to build a pole barn soon that we can build a boat in.
I am curious what books you would recomend to a novice on boat building and design. We will almost deffinitaly buy a set of plans, but it is always nice to know why the designer did what he did.
We are almost defintaly going to build a multihull, probably a small one at first.

If you have a recomendation on a small starter boat I would like to hear it too.
We are fond of the Farrier trimarans but they seem a litle expensive.

We have study plans for Farrier & Searunner Trimarans

Maybe i should have opened this question in the multihull thread.
If so I hope the administrator will move it there; or just tell me if i should reopen the question there.

Hi Quist!

Tall order you have there, lad! Here's a free start though. Check out these sites - there's a lot of general useful info there.

Good luck!

"Boatbuilding in Your Backyard" by Sam Rabl is an old classic.

Go to my links page. Http://newboatbuilders.com/pages/links.html About half way down are some book recommendations and at the bottom of the page is a completely bibliography of boatbuilding books.
