aditional beam concern

We just piked up a columbia 50 in a unfinished condition she is aprox 15% wider than stock I am comfortable with the widening structuraly though am concerned about aditional inverted stability any one have a opinion or other isues involved? She needs a new deck any way so bringing her back to stock wouldent be to much more efort at this point. Thank you in advance

Scott,

Originally these boats, due to being narrow and deep in comparison to a modern hull, were pretty unstable upside-down. The additional beam will change this characteristic, but not much.

Original beam was 12', plus 15% = 13.8'

max beam/ cube root of displacement/64

equals capsizing screening number, if lower
than 2, she is a cruiser.

At 1.74 you are in cruiser territory
