I think it's a pretty good start. The books will help tremendously because form follows function on boats in most cases.

What kind of boat will you be chartering this February?

Similar to what's drawn? Sailing vessel?

A broward 110 so its pretty close. But before the trip my dad was invited to a viking/princess event so I will go with him

Other good design exercises are yacht details. Sketches of tender storage concepts, swim platforms, radar antenna arches. Find a problem that needs to be solved then sketch its solution.

and start looking begging stealing or pirating for some better software as paintbrush, get some 3D program and learn to use it
