It would have been nice to have Rhino Cad designs that we could show the buyer and easily move things around, create walkarounds, different bridge layouts, etc etc. We don't need it for construction...but more for illustration. But it turned out to be such a big, hairy deal that we decided to just stick with paper sketches and have our regular graphic artist (not naval) color them for presentation.
I guess if you start a project on computer it's great to design everything that way. But we already started this project the ol' fashioned way. So, it appears that's the way the renderings will stay as well.

If you use Alibre, they recommend that you start you 3D rederings/designs with 2D sketches. It is part of the development process. Converting the to 3D is very easy for you presentations. That way you can just carry you laptop and show customers different features at parties, and at their office. Do it like the pharmacutical guys do it.......You don't need to digitize your design, either...................goog new huh!!!!

Wow, I didn't know you could convert sketches like that. Cool. Of course, I don't have time for that either! I'm a portfolio manager (financial investments) that likes to dabble. Maybe I'll get someone to put together something for me afterall if it's rather easy (and therefore inexpensive).

Yes, I get where you are coming from. Another, great option is to have a scale model of the boat that you wish to present. Set it right on your Cadenza in the office. It will get alot of interest and attention. Plus, you can use those models as Publicity vehicles if you raffle them off, or just donate them to charities or top exec's that roll-through your life. Don't be affraid to give that kind of stuff away.....I find that I can sit with a customer and talk him through a model for hours and make him start to salivate. Also, Donate a model of your boat to a magazine, sell it as a retail item, show one at the boat yard where you dock. "top of mind, and get there first"....................says ratrace2.

I was thinking about that. Since we're only building a few, each owner should have a model. The only company I saw building models (as a business) was in China. If I give them the plans, they're just as likely to build the entire boat as my model!

Sounds like I need:
a.) someone with too much time who knows how to use Alibre
b.) somebody who builds models from plans

When the mold is sold to boatmaker, and probably changed for the worse, it will be good to have all this original stuff.

Send me a non-disclosure form and a set of prints for the hull, and I'll see what I can work up for you. The hull, Model, I would send out to CNC. but the rest would stay in house..ratrace2
