1985 stratford dory under water

I am looking at a 1985 16' stratford dory *- fiberglass - I was told it went under - my concern is the flotation foam is now water logged - does any know when they started useing closed cell foam - if not how can I tell if it is soaked?

thanks from a new member

.................for how long?
http://boatdesign.net/forums/showthr...ghlight=soaked has a story on it. soaked sandwiches and rotted encapsulated wood is real bad news and unfortunatly not uncommen. see http://www.tramex.ie/ for non destructive moisture detection or ask your marina.
